Family Vacation

We took our first big trip with the boys last week. Lake Shasta has been a fairly regular family vacation for a long time (since we stopped going to Lake Billy Chinook and the Prineville Reservoir). We normally rented a houseboat, but this year we decided on 2 cabins for the 14 of us (including boys).

(You'll notice that the quality of many of the pictures are slightly higher than normal. My cousin Andy came along, and in addition to being a brilliant photographer, his camera is about 3 times as expensive as mine.)

On the boat

It turns out that the boys loved Grandpa Rose's boat. They were a little tired on the first trip out:

Sleepy Logan on Grandma's lap Sleepy Zach on Mommy's lap Puttin' up with Dad I'M THE KING OF THE WORLD! Steady Logan, steady... Silly Grandpa Logan at the wheel, Zach at the switches Grandma Rose and Zach Ok, I suppose this is kinda fun...

At the cabin

When we weren't on the boat, we hung around the cabin. We had a nice big deck to run around on, with a view of the lake.

Drinking water Blowing bubbles Scrabble, a Rose family tradition More bubbles Still not sick of those bubbles... Box racing mmmmm, grapes I'm not eating this grape, and you can't make me Smile for the camera, Zach Reading our favorite book, Hippos Go Beserk Walking on the deck Playing with the rolling toy I'm getting the feeling that grandma likes playing with the bubbles Logan stole Grandpa Rose's hat *tickle tickle* Logan on his new folding chair Zach on his new folding chair Logan getting into the cupboards Zach playing with AndyUncle *huh*? There's our smile!

Wading Pool

Since the boys have had a tendency to drink the water they swim in (al la swim lessons we decided on bringing an inflatable pool for the boys to cool off in...

Logan hides behind Mom Gettin' wet Zach I think everyone forgot that there was a big lake just behind them... Woosh! Woosh!

Sidewalk Chalk

We also let the boys dabble with their artistic skills a little bit.

Logan Fighting over the chalk Drawing Where's Zach? How many can we hold at once?

Aunt Renee and Uncle Nick

We had a lot of fun this trip playing with Aunt Renee and Uncle Nick.

Zach playing peek-a-boo with Nick Logan showing off *tickle *tickle* mmmm, Cheerios Zach reads up on wakeboarding lessons Those bubbles got out again!

Waterskiing

The adult folk did get a chance to get pulled by the boat.

Renee on the ski biscuit Jen on the ski biscuit Ryan and Jen No one likes a show-off Ryan on the wakeboard Aaron skiing Uh, can this thing go any faster? Renee skiing Ryan skiing Jen on the wakeboard... ALMOST! No one likes a show-off Andy on the ski biscuit

A few other pics from the trip...

Grandpa Rose likes his boat I like this one because it makes me look as tall as Andy Ryan and Jen Mom & Boys at the Sundial Bridge in Redding

Gary your pictures bring back a few memories. I worked at Shasta County Mental Health's locked unit for three years. During that time I married my wife and we had our son Henry (he's now 11)and we owned a house about 3 blocks from Lake Shasta. Fond memories.
