No news yet

For those who just want a status update, I'm going to leave you pretty empty handed this week. Robyn's still holding on, which is good. She has another quick check-up tomorrow, and then it's back to the waiting game. I'd be surprised if she lasted the entire month, so watch this space!

As a quick bit of good news, our neighbors Patrick and LeighAnn had their baby boy last week, Mason James. They join my friends Jennifer and Chad, who had a boy (Wyatt Michael) a year and a half ago, Tommy and Lindsay, who had a boy about 8 months ago (Grayson William), and Leo and Denise, who are due to have a boy in January. So our boys have a LOT of built-in buddies they'll be force to play with!

The Nursery Project - Completed!

When we bought our house here in SE Portland 2 years ago, it was pretty clear what the little 8' x 10' room adjacent to the master bedroom would be used for. Sure, for a while it was Robyn's sewing room, and that's where my brother parked when he first moved in, but over the last few months it has slowly become what it was meant to be.

What's really ironic is that, when we first saw the house, we knew how perfect that size of room would be for having a (single) baby.

So over the summer my aunt found the first crib for us (in the corner), and she and my mom made the dresser (which we've decided we have to name, but aren't sure what we're going to call it yet), and then we found another crib on craigslist (along the wall). To make it all fit, we had to remove the doors from the closet. Then we added the little street rug that I found at Lowe's last week. (Can't you just see them moving little Hot Wheels cars up and down the little streets? I can't wait to see that rug in there with 2 little race car beds!) Just recently I finished sanding and painting the changing table. As a word of advice to anyone who decides to take on a project of sanding down a piece of furniture that was created with a lathe: don't. I'm glad it's done, and I'm glad I did something that I personally put time into completing, but I wouldn't do it again.

From the doorway Cribs, and the quilt Robyn made Closet and dresser Classic Pooh print Lightswitch plate, another Grandma Rose original Rug... vroom vroom! Changing table
