Coolest... gift... EVER!

Before I get into the details of the party, I have to show you what my mother and her sister did. They've really outdone themselves this time. Seriously. My sister came over to my house the next day moping that her kids couldn't possibly get anything as cool. (...but fear not, Mom and Anita already have plans for that project... for when the time comes!)

Anyway, Mom and Anita found an old 3-drawer dresser that they fixed up and painted, and had Anita's husband Allen built a hutch-style top for it. The hutch has "arms" on the side, and the feet are... well... "feet". In addition, the doors were cut in the shape of a curve, which provides a refreshing asymmetry to a very rectangular room.

"Two peas in a pod" - Aug 19

With such a cute theme, how could the shower not be a hit? In addition to streamers, balloons, and flowers, the room was adorned with little T-shirts that read "I love my wombmate", "Two Peas in a Pod", and "QTπ".

I wasn't there, but sources who were tell me they had a good time. Dan and his grandson Avery were on hand to serve hors d'oeuvres, and the weather even cooperated. My Uncle Allen took some photos of the event:
